Boating Standards Panel Members Recognized for Service
National Boating Standards Panel

The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and the members of the National Boating Standards Panel (BSP) would like to sincerely thank Panel members Bob Brandenstein, Eric Lundin, and Melissa Miranda for their work on the BSP. These three members termed out December 31, 2023 and provided invaluable contributions to recreational boating safety.

During their tenure, they ushered NASBLA’s American National Standards into a new era with the Core-Plus approach. As a result of their contributions, NASBLA had five American National Standards recognized by ANSI in 2022 and four technical report documents. They were also a part of the beginning development of a K-12 life jacket/PFD education standard. This standard will be foundational for educating younger boaters.

In Denver, the Panel met in-person and thanked Eric, Melissa, and Bob for their dedication and commitment not just to the Panel but to the recreational boating safety community at-large. Through numerous projects, a new Panel name, and countless meetings, these three individuals have used their expertise and talents to increase the standardization in boating education which will have a lasting impact for boating generations to come.
