On March 4, 2024, Officer Michael DiMeo (Harbormaster) of the Marshfield Police Department in Massachusetts passed the Certified Recreational Boating Professional (CRBP) exam, earning his CRBP certification. The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) is pleased to recognize Michael DiMeo as one of the individuals who have recently attained the CRBP credential.

The CRBP certification, developed by NASBLA, is a voluntary credential for recreational boating professionals that encompasses knowledge, performance, and career achievements in specific program domains.

Harbormaster DiMeo began his maritime career in the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). He completed four years of active-duty service in 1993, followed by 28 years of service in the USCG Reserves, resulting in a well-rounded 32-year career as both enlisted and commissioned. DiMeo retired in July 2021 with the rank of Commander. During his Reserve Career, he joined the Marshfield Police Department in 1995. After twelve years of patrol, he was appointed the Harbormaster and Shellfish Constable in 2007.

Since then, DiMeo has been active in USCG Sector Boston’s Area Maritime Security Committee (AMSC) and served as the original President for nine years of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Harbormasters and Maritime Professionals Association (CHAMP), a non-profit association focused on providing essential maritime training for all port professionals. He was appointed by the State of Massachusetts Port Professionals Committee from 2016 to 2018.

DiMeo holds many NASBLA certifications, including completion of the Tactical Operator’s Course (TOC), TOC Refresher Course, Level 1 Comprehensive Boating Incident Investigation Course, Small Vessel Maritime Radiological and Nuclear Detection Operations Course, Essentials of BUI Detection and Enforcement Course, Officer Water Survival Course, and Pursuit & Stop Course. He has also held a 100-ton near coastal Captain’s License with towing endorsement since 1992, along with numerous USCG/FEMA emergency management courses and Incident Command Systems certifications.

DiMeo also holds a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Western New England University. He has been teaching the NASBLA certified safe boater course in conjunction with the Massachusetts Environmental Police (MEP) since 2008.

Join NASBLA in congratulating Harbormaster Michael DiMeo on earning the Certified Recreational Boating Professional designation!
