This month's feature focuses on Lt. Colonel David Trader, BLA, with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. Lt. Col. Trader currently serves as chairman of the VIRT Committee.
What is your position?
Currently, I am the Lieutenant Colonel for the West Virginia Natural Resources Police. I am also the Deputy Chief and BLA for the agency.
How long have you worked for your division?
34 years.
What is the best thing about your division?
We have worked hard to increase the benefits and specialized unit opportunities for our officers. It is our goal to make this a great work environment for our young members and give them the opportunity to develop a worthwhile career in law enforcement.
How did you end up with your division?
I always wanted to work in law enforcement, and since I like the outdoors, this was the perfect fit for me.
In what area do you believe you could offer the most assistance to other state R&T divisions?
I hope that we can provide a forum for the states to communicate and promote best practices that will benefit the users and agencies in times to come.
What are some of your hobbies outside of work?
I enjoy camping, fishing, kayaking, and hunting with my wife, kids, and grandkids.

What is your favorite VIRT resource?
The dashboards.
Where are you from originally?
I have always lived in West Virginia but have had the opportunity to live and work in several different areas throughout the state.
