Not required in Oklahoma but many do have it. I believe more so because Banks require it on the loans many boaters have on their vessels though.  Most operators/owners are really surprised to hear that it is not required by law in Oklahoma.

    Greetings all,

Not required in NY but most people have it because they have loans and also are afraid that if they have a pollution incident, they have coverage.

Don't know why anyone with a vessel or PWC wouldn't have at least liability to cover for an accident.

Although California boating laws do not require boat insurance, it's still highly recommended. Due to the fact, that operating a boat comes with a fair amount of risk. This type of insurance is known as PWC Insurance (aka Personal WaterCraft Insurance).

Wow!  That's crazy on both sides!  If you're the owner, why wouldn't you want it?  And if you were hit by the owner, you better hope they have it!

Surprisingly, boat insurance is not required in Ontario. Some marinas require insurance in order to get a slip or storage.

We have no requirement for insurance on vessels in CT.  Like many other locations, though, most lenders will require it for loans on the boats. ''

NJ does not require it either. A few years back, the Boat Commission was exploring the possibility of mandatory vessel insurance, and it received a great deal of push-back.
